What's the Significance of Three years?
New Hope is planted in the heart of Hampton Roads, Va. where 4 major universities and nearly 35% of the US Navy are located. Since God calls every church to equip its people to spread His kingdom throughout the earth, we wanted to make the most of the three and four year commitments that Navy personnel and university students make to work and study here. That's the reason why we are putting together a three year equipping process for our people - so that when they are ready to leave the area and onto a new station or new job they will be equipped to make an immediate difference wherever God plants them in the world for His glory.
Equipping Hour
Our Equipping Hour begins each Sunday morning at 11:30am right after our weekly Connection Time. Both follow our weekly worship service that begins at 9:30am. Careful lessons are prepared for everyone at every age.
Three Track Adult Equipping Hour
1. Spiritual Formation Track - this track equips a follower of Jesus to grow deeper and more intimate in their relationship with Him. People learn how to draw near to Him by giving Him access to their heart and mind through prayer, worship, meditation, fasting, and other disciplines of the heart.
2. Life Bible Study Track - the LBS track is designed to take a person on a 3 year study of the entire Bible. At the end of the 3 years a person will be able to know and treasure the major themes of the Bible as they unfold from beginning to end, as well as understand who they are as a follower of Christ and what He calls them to do everyday to change the world for His glory!
3. Life's Issues Track - Focuses on the present issues that people are facing as members of the New Hope community and the communities in which we live. Some of the topics include: Moving through Grief and into Restoration, and Understanding the way God SHAPED me to serve.
The Equipping Institute - Coming Soon!
Sunday morning is a great time to introduce people to the truths of the Bible, however it does not allow enough time to dig a little deeper and understand the timeless truths of the attributes of God, His unfolding plan for the world, and how to spread His reign and rule to people groups around the world. That's why we are launching our Equipping Institute beginning in 2008. The Institute will offer various classes during the week in order to give more time to teaching, dialogue, prayer and application of God's truth.
Our goal is to see to it that every person who joins our equipping process will able to walk with Jesus Christ by faith and release His reign and rule in every area of their lives in order to change the world for His glory!
